Good morning. 🌧️ Today, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London is the latest to strip the Sackler name from its walls. Good morning. 🌧️ Today, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London is the latest to strip the Sackler name from its walls. Major art institutions in the United States have done the same, except for one Harvard museum that still carries the disgraced family's name. My question to Harvard's higher-ups: Have you ever stopped to consider how students and community members who lost loved ones to the opioid crisis might feel at your museum?

Also in the news today, the Art Institute of Chicago was called out for dropping any mention of AIDS from a wall label describing the famous cellophane-wrapped candy piles that Felix Gonzalez-Torres had specifically made about the death of his partner Ross Laycock from the disease. Laycock's name was also missing from the wall text. This is not a mere oversight: There's a push to decontextualize and sanitize this specific work to make it more palatable to the art market.
