Yes, we are named the PleinAir Salon, and the reason is because we were created by PleinAir Magazine. (*Note that it's one word and italicized!)

Yay! We made it! I hope you're having a fantastic fall Friday. Recently I've gotten some emails and comments from people that don't plan to enter the PleinAir Salon because they don't paint plein air. So I wanted to take a moment to clear the air, and if you're a regular entrant or a subscriber to PleinAir, you already know this, but for those that don't I wanted to elaborate. Yes, we are named the PleinAir Salon, and the reason is because we were created by PleinAir Magazine. (*Note that it's one word and italicized!) We know that not all artists paint in just one style, or even one medium. A lot of artists will use two or three mediums or paint every subject matter under the sun. Because of that, the magazine doesn't just feature plein air painting, we feature artists, and those artists sometimes paint things other than plein air. For that reason, we also want to highlight styles other than plein air painting. While we do have several categories dedicated solely to plein air painting, we have a lot more categories that are open to plein air OR studio work. You can check those out here. So even if you don't paint in plein air, that's ok. The bottom line is that we want to help you promote your work no matter the style.
