From the earliest part of her career, Lisa was drawn to painting outside. She continues painting outside to this day. Pictured here is a beautiful painting she completed recently on a trip to Machu Picchu.

| | | To Lisa, this simply meant sketching and painting on location. She would often use pastels and watercolors to capture everything she was seeing, feeling, and experiencing in the environment.
Lisa was so taken by the world and all its variety, she couldn't get enough.

| So, when she was about 25 years old, she spent nine months traveling the world.
She's been to Europe, India, China, New Zealand, and more. In each location she would fill up an entire sketchbook with drawings and quick (plein air) paintings, or "outdoor studies." And when the book was full, she'd mail it home to her parents.
They enjoyed receiving these packages, saying the book was the best travel "postcard" possible!
To hear Lisa tell it, "The environment just soaks into your mind and body."
It was during these travels that she found a new way to capture the fast-changing environment — a unique way that did NOT use a camera. It did not rely on her ability to sketch it fast or paint quickly.
